There is no-better way to view the birds at The Wood River Wetlands than with one of our experienced guides on one of our guided kayak tours.
The Upper Klamath Basin sees up to 2/3's of the migratory birds on the Pacific Flyway. The Wood River Wetlands is a major rookery for many different species from waterfowl, heron, eagles, egrets, shorebirds, pelicans, and many many more. You will be amazed at the sounds of all the different species you will hear. If you scroll down you can see a list of birds that has been documented by one of our friends, Dan Mitchell on one of the local waterways, The Williamson River which is only a few miles away. (We also offer guided kayak tours on the Williamson River.)
At The Wood River Wetlands you will also see a variety of wildlife other than the birds. On our tours it is common to see beavers, marmots, raccoons, weasels, turtles and other animals.
Book early for this tour since it is a favorite and fills often.
We offer this 7 days a week. Tours last approximately three hours.
Although the main nesting season is April-June this tour is popular all summer since the birds are always there, except when the wetlands freeze over in the winter.
Different months bring different species.
Easy to moderate paddling.
Experienced Guide, kayaks, and required gear provided.
You can rent binoculars during checkout, if needed.
Hope to see ya there!
