Directions to Jackson F. Kimball State Park. Kayak Tours and rentals. Wood River Headwaters Klamath

Jackson F. Kimball, Wood River Launch Location

The Wood River Headwaters Kayak Launch Site

Located off Sun Mountain road in Fort Klamath,Oregon. This is the launch location for Kayak Tours and Shuttle Rentals for Sky Lakes Wilderness Adventures. The take-out is south off Sun Mountain Road about 3 miles at The Wood River Day Use Area.

DIRECTIONS:

When headed north on Highway 97 from Klamath Falls, Just before the Kla-Mo-Ya casino turns left at Highway 62 towards Crater Lake, follow until you pass the Crater Lake Resort on the right. Shortly after, you will turn right onto Sun Mountain Road. Follow until you pass Dixon Road. Shortly after Dixon you will turn left into Jackson F. Kimball State Park. There will be a Wilderness school right across from where the park is. If you miss the turn into the park, you will come to a gravel road that will tell you you have gone too far.   

About Jackson F. Kimball State Park

J. F. Kimball State Park is a pristine site located at the headwaters of the Wood River. This stream flows from the pine forest into open meadow land laced with quaking aspen surrounded by the southern Cascade Mountains. Wood River offers fine fishing that can be accessed from the park. Kimball Park offers primitive camping next to the headwaters

Lake Euwana Launch & Take-Out Location

Lake Euwana Kayak Launch Site at Veterans Park, 10 George Nurse Way, Klamath Falls, Oregon

Located at the west end of Veterans Park in the west-side downtown area of the City of Klamath Falls

DIRECTIONS:

When on Highway 97 take the downtown Klamath Falls exit. Head east turn right past the veterans park onto George Nurse Way. The boat launch ramp is located on the west end of the park.   

About Veterans Park

The Klamath Falls Veterans Memorial Park is a recreational park located on Lake Ewauna in downtown Klamath Falls, Oregon, US. It was established in 2007 as a memorial honoring those who have served and are serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, Coast Guard, and Wartime Merchant Marine

Malone Springs Launch Location

Malone Springs Kayak Launch Site- Upper Klamath Marsh Canoe Trail

It is located off West Side Road, Oregon. This is the launch location for Kayak Tours and Shuttle Rentals for Sky Lakes Wilderness Adventures. This location can be the take-out or you can paddle south and take out at the Rocky Point public boat ramp.

DIRECTIONS:

When headed west on Highway 140 from Klamath Falls, turn right at the Rocky Point exit onto Westside Road (Highway 531) towards Crater Lake, follow westside and just pass the 11-mile marker sign turn right on a gravel road to Malone Springs. The gravel road will dead-end at the location.

About Malone Springs, Oregon

Malone Springs Day Use Area features one vaulted toilet, picnic tables, and fire rings. Situated on Crystal Creek, it features a launch for non-motorized boats to float into Klamath Lake via the Upper Klamath Canoe Trail. It's a great place for birdlife viewing.

Shoalwater Bay Launch & Take-Out Location

Shoalwater Bay Kayak Launch Site- Eagle Ridge Park, 17300 Eagle Ridge Road, Klamath Falls, Oregon

It is located on the south end of Upper Klamath Lake.

DIRECTIONS:

Head west from The City of Klamath Falls on Highway 140. Once you go over Spence mountain you will turn right at the Eagle Ridge Park turnoff. Follow the signs along the dirt road and you will end at the Eagle Ridge Park Boat Ramp launch site. 

About Eagle Ridge Park, Oregon

Eagle Ridge Park is 634.88 acres in size, located off Highway 140; it's 15 miles west of Klamath Falls. This park contains 6 campsites, a boat launch, drinking water, and new CXT vault toilets. The road to the tent campground is very narrow, so trailers aren't permitted past the boat launch. It's a hilly area, located on the shore of Upper Klamath Lake.

Spring Creek Kayak Launch & Take Out Location

Spring Creek Day Use Area Kayak Launch Site - 46000 Highway 97 North, Chiloquin, Oregon

Spring Creek Day Use Area is the launch and take-out location for Spring Creek Kayak Tours or Shuttle Rentals for Sky Lakes Wilderness Adventures.

This location is behind The Collier Logging Museum at Collier Memorial State Park. 


DIRECTIONS:

When headed north on Highway 97 from Klamath Falls, turn left at The Collier Logging Museum. This turns onto Glendale St. Take this road behind the Logging Museum, stay to the right where the road forks, and you will end in the Spring Creek Day Use Area parking lot. It is about 1/4 mile off of Highway 97. 

About Spring Creek Day Use Area, Oregon

The Williamson River and crystal-clear Spring Creek converge in Collier Memorial State Park. The river is regionally famous for kayaking and its quality trout fishery that consistently produces trophy fish. Spring Creek gushes dramatically out of a nearby spring, painting a picture-perfect scene as it flows through the park

The Spraque River Launch Location

Spraque River Kayak Launch Site - At SE End of Chiloquin Ridge Road Bridge

This is a remote rustic launch site onto the Spraque River without available facilities. 


DIRECTIONS:

When headed north on Highway 97 from Klamath Falls, turn right at Highway 422 into Chiloquin. Go through town, and just after you cross the railroad tracks, turn left onto Spraque River Highway. Go 1 mile, then turn right onto Chiloquin Ridge Road in a short distance you will travel over a bridge that goes over the Spraque River. Keep going a short distance and turn left onto the dirt road between the highway and fence. Head back towards the bridge and the launch location is at the SE end of the bridge.  

The take-out location for this Kayak run is located behind Chiloquin High School. It is a remote spot. Contact Sky Lakes Wilderness Adventures for the exact location to take out. 

About The Sprague River, Oregon

The Sprague River is a tributary of the Williamson River, approximately 75 miles (121 km) long, in southwestern Oregon in the United States. It drains an arid volcanic plateau region east of the Cascade Range in the watershed of the Klamath River.

The Williamson River Run #1 Kayak Launch Location

Williamson River Run 1 Kayak Launch Site - 46000 Highway 97 North, Chiloquin, Oregon

Collier Memorial State Park Rest Area is the launch location for the Williamson River Run #1 Kayak Tours or Shuttle Rentals for Sky Lakes Wilderness Adventures.

This location is right across Highway 97 from Collier Memorial Logging Museum


DIRECTIONS:

When headed north on Highway 97 from Klamath Falls, a few miles past the Chiloquin turn off, turn right into the Collier Memorial State Park Rest Area located directly across from The Logging Museum. The further end of the parking area just past the restrooms is where we launch. 

About Collier Memorial State Park, Oregon

Collier Memorial State Park features a campground, an outdoor museum of historic logging equipment, relocated pioneer village, and a new four-corral, primitive horse camp and trailhead. At the state's finest logging museum, you'll see rare and antique logging equipment dating to the 1880s and more recent pieces.

The Williamson River Run #2 Kayak Launch Location

Williamson River 2 Kayak Launch Site - 209 Chiloquin Blvd, Chiloquin, OR 97624

The Williamson River County Access Park is the launch location for the Williamson River Run #2 Kayak Tours or Shuttle Rentals for Sky Lakes Wilderness Adventures.

This location is across from Dollar General and The Chiloquin Airport off Highway 422.


DIRECTIONS:

When headed north on Highway 97 from Klamath Falls, turn right onto 422, the Chiloquin turn off, About 1/8 mile turn right at the Williamson River Access location. 

About The Williamson River County Access

This location was recently renovated and had a new boat ramp, parking, and restrooms installed. There are a couple picnic tables and access for fishing for the large Redband Trout that inhabit this world-renowned flyfishing river.

The Wood River Wetlands Kayak Launch and Take Out Location

Petric County Park Kayak Launch Site - 40000 Modoc Point Rd. Chiloquin, Oregon

Petric County Park is the launch location for the Wood River Wetlands Kayak Tours or Shuttle Rentals for Sky Lakes Wilderness Adventures.

This location is about 1/4 mile north of the main Wood River Wetlands entrance. After mid-summer, we move the launch location to the main entrance just south of Petric Park due to this area getting duckweed covered.


DIRECTIONS:

When headed north on Highway 97 from Klamath Falls, turn left on Crater Lake Parkway. (Just before The Kla-Mo-Ya- Casino. Follow until you come to Highway 422 North, Turn Left. Follow until the end at Modoc Point Rd, turn left, go about 1/2 mile, and Petric Park will be on your left. 

About Petric County Park, Oregon

Located 29 miles from Klamath Falls, on Highway 427 (Modoc Point Road), Petric Park is tucked away on 2.2 little acres. It's a primitive facility; not much is there other than a boat launch and CXT toilets, making this a day-use only park. From this location, you can access The Wood River Wetlands.
