Kayaking the Williamson River - Runs 1 and 2

Two of our Best Kayaking Tours!

Run 1 of the Williamson River is always a favorite with lots of room to float around! We put in at Collier Memorial State Park day-use area and with a little paddling and some current make it to downtown Chiloquin in about 3 hours. This is a pretty easy trip with a couple small ripples to go through to add to the fun. This is a great run for large groups - our largest group was 30 people at one time (please call to book groups that large!).  Looking for a fun company outing? This tour is one to consider!

The Williamson River

The Williamson River is at an elevation of 4,200 feet  The river meanders in this stretch and has a national reputation for World Class fly fishing for large rainbow trout. These are all naturally reproducing, native fish. The Redband Trout here grows to true trophy size with three-year-old fish generally reaching 20 inches in length. Large fish (up to 10 pounds) are in the Williamson in good numbers by late June through fall. By late August, these fish are all the way up to the falls separating the upper and lower Williamson River. Good size brown trout are occasionally found as well. Best fishing is in August and September.

We take lots of pictures while on our tour so be sure to check out our Facebook Page  to see your tour and feel free to share.

About The Williamson River

The Williamson River history sign located at Collier Memorial Park in Klamath County, Oregon.

About its Geography

The Williamson River rises from a large spring in central Klamath County, on the north side of Fuego Mountain, in the Winema National Forest located about 40 miles northeast of Klamath Falls. This location, called "Head of the River" where the Williamson originates out of a small cave-like spring in the mountainside. It flows in a large arc north through the mountains, then west, then southwest through the Klamath Marsh National Wildlife Refuge. Downstream of the refuge, the river flows roughly parallel to U.S. Highway 97 receiving Spring Creek from the north at Collier Memorial State Park, about 5 miles north of Chiloquin. In the City Chiloquin, is were it connects to the Sprague River. The Williamson enters the northern end of Upper Klamath Lake near Modoc Point about 20 miles northwest of Klamath Falls.
